Bouvetoya is home to three breeding species of penguin:

7,000 pairs of Chinstrap Penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica)

3,000 pairs of Macaroni Penguin (Eudyptes chrysolophus)

50 pairs of Adelie Penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae)
